April
April brings rain and rain often brings lawn moss, which can hamper growth and sometimes kill grass underneath. It is important that you rake off this moss to promote a healthy lawn and allow for better surface drainage. There are a number of chemical moss killers that are very effective, however these still require the lawn to be raked out to remove the debris.
An alternative to both raking and chemical killing is a powered scarifier/powered lawn raker (often combined with an aerator) this will remove the moss, winter debris and any matted grass. If the scarifier does not have an aerator it will be important to fork the lawn over to improve surface drainage.
